Several members spent this morning at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center
practicing their skills on the car fire simulator. Firefighters received good training on fire
attack, and one driver trainee had plenty of pump time to put toward his engine driver
qualification. Thanks to everyone that attended and to the staff of LCPSTC for running the
simulator for us.
Congratulations to firefighter Jesse Schlotzhauer for competing his Pennsylvania Department
of Health certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.

As part of our normal Monday night training program, on July 14th we hosted a water rescue
awareness class at our station. A total of 29 personnel from Manheim, Lititz, Cornwall, and
Mount Joy attended. About halfway through the class, crews were dispatched to Lititz
Springs Park for a reported building fire that turned out to be very minor and the class was
able to resume quickly. This class was a precursor to a water rescue operations class coming
in September. Thanks to instructor Todd Stahl from Whitecap Rescue for a very informative
class. We're looking forward to seeing you again in a couple of months.

Just another false fire alarm? Crews were dispatched to South Cope Hill Drive for a residential
fire alarm and just after dispatch Deputy 2-6 (Rhodes) was advised that calls were coming in
from the neighbors that there was smoke coming from the house. Crews quickly arrived and
extinguished a working garage fire. This time the system worked as designed and alerted the
fire department several minutes before any fire could be seen from outside the house. This is
a good example that fire alarms and sprinklers save lives. Also a reminder to our staff that
even run of the mill every day calls can turn out to be more than expected.

Crews spent a total of 2 hours in service.
