FIRE MUSEUM
The fire company museum was brought
about after a fire company expansion
project in 1996.
Fortunately for the fire company, some of our original apparatus has
been
stored in pristine condition over the
years. One of our original pumpers was housed at the Hershey Automobile
Museum since the 1950's. As we were looking to build our addition on the
Hershey museum was getting ready to do renovations and was going to ask
if we wanted our apparatus out. This was a win-win situation for us
both. With the generosity of the Manheim Auto Auction we were able to
obtain the engine.
The problem with getting this antique apparatus and another piece of
fire
apparatus into the 2nd floor museum posed
a problem at first, but it was decided to put a entrance-way on the
second floor, with two doors. This entrance-way allowed us to use a
hydraulic lift truck to lift the apparatus up to the second floor.
Our museum presently holds 2 pieces of our original equipment, along
with early
fire company minutes and other
memorabilia such as helmets, parade uniforms and attire, as well as
pictures that have been taken through the years.
