Memorial Day started with members attending the Manheim VFW Memorial Day parade. It remained quite most of the day until just after 10:30pm when Manheim and surrounding mutual aid departments were sent to the 100 block of S Main for a reported apartment building fire.
Chief 26 arrived reporting a 2 story Brick multi dwelling with nothing showing. Chief 26 met with the 2nd floor tenant who reported a smell and haze in the 2nd floor believed to be from the bathroom vent. Engine 26-1 (Seace) arrived directly behind Chief 26 and was sent to the 2nd floor to investigate. Crews were then alerted to a smoke condition in the 1st floor apartment, crews found a small smoldering fire and extinguished the same. Crews were able to vent the structure and all tenants returned.
While crews were back at the station the Pre-Alert was sounded for A mobile home fire in Penn Township. Chief 26, Chief 261, and Engine 26-1 responded immediately. Chief 26 arrived to find a single wide mobile home with a working fire in the rear bedroom. Engine 26-1 (Seace) arrived and made a offensive push to extinguish the fire. Crews were able to stop any fire from advancing down the hall way. Engine 75-1 arrived as the 2nd due engine and relieved Engine 26-1 crew members who were beginning to check for extension and hitting hot spots. Engine 69-2 arrived and assisted with utilities / lighting and overhaul. 1 adult was displayed and 2 cats that have not been located.
