August 1, 2022

Your Manheim Volunteers have remained very busy the last month, answering 30+ calls for service, ending the month of July with 16 members assisting Mastersonville Fire Co on a house fire last evening just after 8pm.

Just 11 hours later Volunteers were sent to the 100 block of North Colebrook road for a reported Barn Fire. Chief 26 arrived to confirm the report while (Manheim) Engine 26-1 laid a supply line back the lane and begin the fire attack. (Fire department Mount Joy) Engine 75-1 arrived and positioned to protect exposures on the Charlie side and prevent spread to the remaining part of the barn. Engine 75-2 took over water supply at the end of the lane. (Elizabethtown) Truck 74 positioned for master stream operations and was able to knock the bulk of the fire down from above. In all 7 engines, 1 rescue, 9 tankers, 2 ladder trucks, and one Tac unit were used to bring the fire under control. Many thanks are due to the volunteer fire community who spent upwards of 7 hours on scene to put out hot spots and cool equipment down. Also, to the Amish Community for the meals and beverages that were provided.
