As many have seen just before 3AM this morning Manheim Fire along with mutual aid responded to Kreider Farms - Manheim Location. Deputy Chief 26 went enroute and was advised by LCWC 911 that they received multiple calls and PD arriving with a fully involved building. Chief 26 went enroute and with the information given he upgraded the assignment to the Working Fire. Deputy and Chief 26 arrived and confirmed a 50X250 hay storage facility with fire throughout the building. First arriving units were able to deploy masterstreams and several hand lines to protect exposures on both the Bravo and Delta sides. Some of the initial fire was knocked down and units were instructed to keep it in check.

Command staff met with Farm Management to discuss and lay out a game plan for the next several hours up to and including days. As many have noticed the decision at this time is to allow the fire to burn. Krieders Farm Management has continued to monitor the situation and is in close contact with command staff from the Manheim Fire Department. Deputy and Chief 26 have made several stops to the location to check progress.

During operation crews applied over 100,000 gallons of water from the near by Doe Run pond and made little impact on the fire.

While units were operating at the fire, units that were assigned to stand by at Manheim handled several calls for service including two accidents.

Company 26 has since handled 2 additional calls.

Thanks to the various companies that assisted us today. Special thanks to Fire Department Mount Joy for standing by for us and helping get our units back to ready status.

Many thanks to everyone!
